Party in Spanish – We’re going to Ibiza

The Spanish island of Ibiza is not only known as “the island of the rich and the beautiful,” it is also known as having a vast party scene. The climate of the Balearic isles benefits greatly to this. It only has an approximate 46 days of rain per year (which leaves 319 days of sunshine!) and an average temperature of 25 – 30 degrees Celsius. If you want to experience one of the biggest club scenes in all of Europe, Ibiza is the place to go. Better yet, cheap flights to Ibiza are easy to find, since Ibiza has been getting international attention for its club scene ever since it started off big in the 1990s.

During the summer months, you’ll have the chance to go to one of the Goa-parties that are usually held during a full moon in the mountains and may last several days. For whom this might be a little over the top, Ibiza also has a variety of clubs, bars and discos, of which a few deserve special mentioning.

The famous “Privilege” in Sant Rafel holds about 14.000 people – that’s right, fourteen thousand, not a typo – which makes it the world’s largest night-club and earned it an entry in the Guinness World Records. It’s outrageous, hedonistic, and a place for people to express themselves (it has no dress code, any combination of clothes and bare skin is accepted). And there are free buses that take you to the club from all the big cities, including a party bus that goes through all the main touristy areas.

The second to mention would be “Amnesia”, also in Sant Rafel. Its famous set of DJs, including names like Paul van Dyk or Marco V, awarded it the title “Best Global Club” three consecutive years at the “Winter Music Conference,” from ’06 to ’08. It offers a spectacle of 24 colour lasers that make it a feast for the eyes.

The “Space” in Sant Jordi de ses Salines is the closest club to the Playa d’en Bossa, one of the most favoured beaches with the party folks. Also located right on the beach is the beach club “Bora Bora,” which has no entry fee and usually serves as a warm up for the Space, which used to open at 8.00 am in the morning for those who were not ready to stop partying yet. But due to Spanish law, it is now open from 4.30 pm to 6.00 am. The Space has been awarded “Best Global Club” by the “International Dance Music Awards” in ’05, ’06 and ’12, and also “World’s Best Club” by the music magazine “DJ Mag” in ’11 and ’12.

Last in this list is the “Pacha” in Eibissa, which is the only big club in Ibiza City and also the only club to be open the whole year. It became famous for its party lines with the Swedish House Mafia and David Guetta’s F*** Me I’m Famous.
